Travellers don't have to find themselves in Alberta this July to enjoy the festivities of the Calgary Stampede. In celebration of its 12th birthday, Township 7 Vineyards & Winery will host a Western-themed party, after officially being selected as the Centennial wine for the major Canadian event. Those planning a holiday within the arid climate of the Okanagan Valley can reserve rooms at the Walnut Beach Resort and cool off with a crisp glass of the vineyard's Centennial Selection Chardonnay.
With cowboy boots and hats in tow, Okanagan visitors can arrive at Township on July 7, where festivities will ensue from noon until night. Guests will learn the true technique of crafting a smooth Merlot during the barrel blending seminars, led by a seasoned vintner. While adults are expanding their knowledge of the winemaking process, kids can enjoy festivities in the Corral, including rope tricks, old-fashioned dress-up and horseshoe toss games.
Before retreating back to the Osoyoos hotel, families can fill up on authentic barbecue, provided by the South Okanagan's Habitat for Humanity, and sample their final glass of wine after deciding on which Township variety is their favourite.
