Fall is right around the corner, which means events celebrating the harvest moon will be taking place across Canada and around the world. In Osoyoos, residents are commemorating the season with the Wine Moon Paper Lantern Celebration. The community invites guests to Moon Curser Vineyards in late September to take part in the festivities and enjoy some locally crafted wine. Those who book a stay at the Walnut Beach Resort can enjoy the comforts of this luxurious hotel as well as its convenient location only a short trip from the vineyard.
2013 will be the very first Wine Moon Paper Lantern Celebration, and the city hopes to make it an annual tradition. Participants create their own paper lanterns at home or at one of the Osoyoos and District Arts Council workshops, then bring them along to the event for a paper lantern parade. Council members will judge the lanterns, and the top three winners will take home a total of $500 in monetary prizes. The celebration will also feature live music and dancing, not to mention wine fresh from the winery.
There's no parking at the vineyard, but guests staying at the Walnut Beach Resort can catch a shuttle bus from the nearby Osoyoos Sonora Centre.
