You don't need to wait for Arbor Day to celebrate the beauty and importance of forestry. Reserve a room at an Osoyoos hotel and head to this charming community for the Festival of Trees. This fest runs from Nov. 23 through Jan. 26 at the NK'MIP Resort. It's one of the area's most anticipated nature events and an excellent way to get in the holiday spirit.
Established in 2010, the festival features more than 35 trees beautifully adorned for the holidays. Visitors can peruse the woodland and pay a $2 donation to vote for their favourite decorations . A winner will be chosen at the close of the event. You can also feast your eyes on the Tree of Hope – guess how many lights it contains for a chance to win a stay in an area hotel. There will also be a silent auction and a display of gingerbread houses.
Admission is free to this holiday festival, but feel free to donate, because proceeds from the Festival of Trees go to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation. After a day of strolling the NK'MIP grounds, make the 5-minute drive to the Walnut Beach Resort and relax in your carefully-crafted designer suite.
