Osoyoos welcomes its annual light-up festival this winter

As November rears its head, communities begin to prepare for the ultimate winter holiday: Christmas. In downtown Osoyoos this year, every neighbourhood will be aglow with festive, twinkling lights and holiday cheer, particularly with the arrival of the Christmas Lite Up and Santa Claus Parade on November 30. Visitors staying at the Walnut Beach Resort won't be able to miss out on these activities even if they tried, as they take over the streets and invite all residents and visitors to come out and celebrate together.

Kicking off in the early evening, the festivities include a Merchant Open House, which encourages guests to sample hourly specials and refreshments including hot dogs and hot cocoa. Proceeds from the tasty snacks go straight to the town Food Bank, according to the Osoyoos Festival Society.

Travellers of all ages should get their harmonies in gear, as next on the schedule is a night of Christmas carols, filled with all of the classics, from "White Christmas" to "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town."

The festivities continue the following day, Saturday, December 1, so visitors to the Okanagan Valley should make sure to reserve their Osoyoos hotel rooms for the weekend.
