Sure, wine and cheese are a great pairing, but a good bottle of aged pinot noir and an inspiring display from local Okanagan Valley artists might have it beat. Now in its 15th year, the Kamloops Art Gallery (KAG) Wine Festival will take place from March 8 to 16 and will include tastings and food-and-wine pairings all week long. Those who can't wait to experience this local event can reserve rooms at the Walnut Beach Resort and celebrate the arrival of spring with some fine libations.
A number of restaurants participate in the annual event, including The Black Iron Restaurant, The Fireside at the Plaza and Terra Restaurant, among others. Renowned winemakers and proprietors will be present to share their own personal tales, such as Bill Eggert of Fairview Cellars, who will be speaking Thursday, March 21 at Terra.
The major event to culminate the festival is the Consumer Wine Tasting, featuring more than 100 British Columbia wines, as well as international varieties. Those who want to venture over from their Osoyoos hotel rooms can attend the March 16 event and enjoy live music from the Henry Small Band, as well as appetizers and of course, refined wines.
