Movie-lovers won't want to miss this unique festival created by filmmakers for filmmakers. The Tumbleweed Film Festival returns to Osoyoos every August for three days of captivating, little-known indie productions. While you're in town, stay at the Walnut Beach Resort to get the ultimate Okanagan experience.
The Tumbleweed Film Festival lets guests savor local beers and wines and sample tasty treats while taking in short films that span an array of genres, including documentary, comedy, animation and drama. The lineup is curated by founders Mo Fine and Geoff Klein, who are also filmmakers and created the event to spread appreciation for the art across the Okanagan Valley.
"We love independent film," Fine said. "And we love the beauty of this area, so we're hoping to continue to promote this festival in the Okanagan region and help get the word out on it."
Every night features a different set of carefully chosen short films – each of which is typically less than 20 minutes – from around the globe. Stick around after the showings to chat with the independent filmmakers and meet the artisans behind the fine wines you've been enjoying. At the end of the night, relax in the carefully crafted designer suites of a nearby Osoyoos hotel.
